The Mar Thoma Church of New Jersey (MTCNJ) was established in 1980 and moved to its own premises in Randolph, NJ in 1997.

MTCNJ is one of the parishes under the Diocese of North America and Europe. The Malankara Mar Thoma Church of India has its roots in the ancient church in India and believed to have been established by the apostle St. Thomas in AD 52.

A Brief History

Long after the Malankara Mar Thoma Church was established and the Mar Thoma Christians migrated to North America, the worship services were initially held in New York.

The first worship gathering of the Marthomites in New Jersey was held on October 12, 1980 in Teaneck, New Jersey.  The parish was officially inaugurated on April 5, 1981 in Newark, NJ. Later on, we moved to our own premises in Randolph, NJ on January 31, 1997 and the first Holy Communion Service was held on March 2, 1997.

The Late Rt. Rev. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus dedicated the New Jersey Mar Thoma Church on October 4, 1997.
